You must have a direct call from God to do missions. It is not for the weak-hearted. If you have open hands and a Spirit-filled heart, God will use this to help you be his hands, feet, and eyes.

With God’s help… you can change the world! Even if it’s kissing the cheek of a two-week old baby that was abandoned along the road with the placenta still attached! You will look into that baby's eyes and see the face of Jesus.

Being in Kenya allowed me to see the face of Jesus. I am compelled to see it again! I challenge anyone that wants to see Jesus… to come with me to Kenya!

The only restriction I was aware of was requiring all missionaries to sign personal agreements with the Baptist Faith and Message statement. There was another issue more recently, concerning private prayer language, but I believe that may have been limited to one or more of their seminaries.

JLP (see comment 67555), I have not heard about any recent restrictions. If you find information about it online, I'd like to read it.

Another great historical example of strong female leadership, like your post awhile back about Elizabeth Fry. Thanks for reminding us of these godly sisters, Brandon.

It seems to me that each of us has the potential to be both a Fidelia Fiske (answering a specific call) and a Mary Lyon (finding someone else to encourage and equip for their call). As I pursue my calling as a writer, I also try to encourage the women around me to utilize their gifts for teaching, fundraising, grandmothering, etc. - whatever God has given them to do in their current sphere of influence.

Awesome, Brandon. Thanks for sharing this story with us. Women had to struggle to be accepted on the mission field; it took a long time for acceptance to come about.

I heard that recently the Southern Baptists have put some sort of restriction on women in missions. Is that true? Does anyone know?
