When I was in missionary training school, we had a team about to go to the Middle East. I remember the leader saying that, in his experience, women in these countries were much more receptive to the gospel. Since the men had all the power, what did they need with a message about giving up power? Women, on the other hand, could really relate to the suffering of Jesus. I pray that this film will be an incredible witness for these poor oppressed women.

Faith and Liz, you’re right about that tendency. That’s why I was glad that the Christianity Today reviewer recognized this film as one that not only addresses Christ’s honorable treatment of women but also Christ’s message to cultures of “honor and shame.” That certainly transcends gender and will hopefully contribute to a perception of the film as one equally for men and women.

Yes…it will be interesting to see if this film generates an equal amount of interest.
It is always noticeable that any effort which features women can be deemed to be only suitable for or needed by women, where other things are automatically expected to be suitable for men and women alike.

i hope this film is shown as much as the original Jesus film around the world. I think women suffer so much from abuse and injustice. It will either be transformative or banned because Jesus and women is usually subversive.
